If your question isn't here, please get in touch — I'm happy to help.
The introductory call lasts around 30 minutes and is completely free and informal. It's an opportunity for you to ask any questions you have, share a little about what's brought you to therapy, and get a feel for whether working together seems like the right fit. There's no commitment on either side.
This varies enormously from person to person. Some people find that 6–12 sessions gives them what they need; others prefer longer-term work. There's no minimum commitment — we'll review regularly so you can make an informed decision about continuing. What I won't do is keep you in therapy longer than is useful to you.
Yes — everything you share is confidential. The only exceptions are if I become concerned about your safety or the safety of others, or if I'm required by law to disclose information. I'll explain this fully in the client agreement, and we'll discuss it before we begin. I also work with a clinical supervisor (which is an ethical requirement for practising counsellors) but this is anonymous.
Online sessions take place via Microsoft Teams — either video call or phone. You don't need to create an account; I'll send you a link before the session. Many clients find online sessions just as effective as in-person, with the added benefit of being able to access therapy from a comfortable, familiar environment. The most important thing is that you have a private, uninterrupted space for the session.
In-person sessions take place at my therapy room in Liss, Hampshire. The space is comfortable, private, and designed for therapeutic work.
Integrative counselling means I draw on several different therapeutic models — Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, and CBT — rather than being restricted to a single approach. This allows me to tailor the work to you specifically, rather than fitting you into a predetermined framework. The relationship between therapist and client is central to everything I do.
No — you can contact me directly. No GP referral is needed for private counselling.
That uncertainty is completely normal. The free introductory call is specifically designed for this — it's a low-stakes way to explore whether therapy (and working with me in particular) might be helpful, without any commitment. Feel free to get in touch and we can take it from there.
