Frequently Asked Questions

How Often Would We Meet?

Usually, we would meet weekly, unless your situation suggests otherwise. I find weekly sessions are the best way to build a strong working relationship. It also builds momentum, which might mean more consistent progress can be achieved. However, everyone is different and has different circumstances. We can come up with a plan which suits your individual needs.

How Long are the Sessions?

The sessions are 50 minutes long.

Do you offer Short Term Counselling?

Yes, when we begin working together we agree on how many initial sessions you would like to undertake. Often clients will ask for 6 or 12 sessions to address a specific issue. Otherwise I work with clients on an open ended basis where we work towards a goal and regularly review our progress towards this goal. When these client feel they have accomplished what they have come to counselling for we will agree to end our sessions. I am client-led and work to your needs, though I might offer thoughts on effective ways of working.

Where Would We Meet?

My consultation room is at Banbury Therapy Group. I would ask you to wait in reception, and I would meet you there to take you through to a comfortable private room.

Do you Take Notes?

I do not take notes during the session time. After the session; I take brief notes to refer to at a later time if necessary. These notes are confidential and stored securely.

Do you have Insurance?

Yes, I have full professional indemnity insurance.

What happens if I miss a Session?

We will go through our counselling agreement when we begin our work together to cover my cancellation policy. You will not be charged for sessions for which you have given advanced warning that you cannot attend. I have a 48-hour cancellation policy. If you cancel or miss a session within 48 hours of the session you will need to pay for the cost of the session. Where possible, I will reschedule sessions as needed.

How do Online sessions work?

I host online video sessions on Microsoft Teams. If you need help downloading this software, I can send you instructions before our first sessions. If you would like to have the camera turned off, we can do that. The important thing is that you feel comfortable and safe. I will ask that you make sure you are in a space which is private to ensure you get the most from our sessions. Otherwise, online sessions work in the same way as In-Person sessions.

Can I just come Once or Twice?

Of course, there is no obligation on how many sessions you can do. I will follow your lead.

What Times do you have Available?

Availability varies, get in touch and I will be able to let you know my current availability and whether it will work for you.
